I am finding it hard to write a gratitude journal every day. Not because I don’t have things to be grateful for every day, but because it is not in my nature. I am forgetful, I am lazy, and I am easily distracted. But I will push on and try, because I think it’s important. There are other things, rants about what is going on in the world that I have much more to say about. However, I AM grateful for so many things that I will combine them with my rants… thus not having to make a trade-off.
Today I am grateful that I don’t live in Ferguson Missouri, or any other town, or city in the U.S. that put the lives of young people of color in danger from the very people who are supposed to be protecting them. Police in the U.S. are a different breed. And it seems their mission is to wipe black and Hispanic men from the country.
Today I am grateful that I don’t live in Israel or Palestine. I am grateful not to live in any place when men decide that I might live or die for their ego and greed.
Today I am grateful not to be a GOOD police officer. Yes, there are some good ones. And I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry, because just like all people, there are some that are making a bad name for others.
I am grateful to live in a place that has gun control laws.
That is what I am grateful for today, the absence of daily violence in my life, except for on my media. I am grateful not to be living in fear of bodily harm on a daily basis. I hope is remains so for the rest of my life, and I hope that those that are living that way will get relief in the near future, because no one should have to live like that.
